Introducing Queryon

Hi, I’m Orion Matthews, and I’m extremely pleased to present Queryon, a new brand replaces our placemark name of Orion Consulting. This is not a merger or acquisition. And it’s more than a unique name. It’s a refocus on who we are as a company, what we offer, and how we can help businesses capitalize on their most valuable asset—their data.

Why data?

Experts predict that data (data systems, dashboards, strategy) present incredible opportunity for organizations over the next five to ten years. Consider these facts:

  • Bad data or poor-quality data costs organizations as much as 10–20% of their revenue. (Dunn & Bradstreet)
  • A 10% increase in data accessibility by a Fortune 1000 company would give that company approximately $65 million more in annual net income. (Harvard Business Review)
  • More data has been created in the past two years than in the entire previous history of the human race. (Forbes)

What we do

We are experienced technology engineers, analysts, and consultants who have collaborated on everything from major medical center systems to mobile apps that have been downloaded hundreds of thousands of times. With Queryon, we want to apply our collective expertise to help:

  • Solve challenging, messy, complex data problems for mid- to large-sized organizations.
  • Move data through an organization faster, more accurately, securely and to the right people when they need it.
  • Build custom integrations between different systems.
  • Unlock the potential of “data silos.”
  • Create powerful, accurate and insightful analytics of your data.
  • Turn data into a strategic asset.

Our Methodology

After much analysis and reflection, we developed a simple and holistic approach. We call it the “Executive Data Supply Chain.” This simple formula has powerful implications:

Questions + Data = Answers

Our mission is to help organizations optimize the formula. We find it keeps conversations on track and keeps us organized. We use it to break apart a messy and complicated business into something executive and non-techie leaders can use and comprehend without being technology stars themselves.

Let’s dive a little deeper:

Picasso once famously said: “Computers are useless. They can only give you answers.”

Knowing the questions you want answered is an essential first step to building a database. That’s why we start our process by collaborating with you to form those questions. As consultants and business analysts, we can begin to understand the complex nature of your business and your business needs.

Once we know the right questions to ask, we can gather the data that will lead to the answers you seek.

Data needs a place to live—a data system—and it needs to be captured properly. This piece involves engineers and other technology experts helping to optimize systems, implement new ones, or eliminate redundancy. We have some of the best technology experts on our team, which means they’ll be on yours.

One you have questions and data, it’s time to focus on understanding it and getting answers. That involves visualizations, analytics, dashboards and reports. We help create compelling presentations and give people the way to sliced, diced, drill down on their own.

With answers we strive to focus on data accuracy. In 1983, the world almost ended due to inaccurate data when a Russian data system incorrectly determined that the U.S. had launched a nuclear attack. Fortunately, Russia later determined it was a false alarm. That may be an extreme case, but we don’t cut corners when it comes to data accuracy, anytime, anywhere, for anyone.

Our Technology Partnerships

To be successful, we believe in partnering with others. We started by building partnerships with Microsoft and Tableau. They both stand apart as clear market leaders according to the February 2017 report by Gartner:

  • Microsoft. As an official partner, we have special access and deep experience in Excel and MS Access. These tools are found in almost all organizations, particularly when it comes to data. We know them inside and out.
  • Tableau. Tableau Software helps people see and understand data. Offering a revolutionary new approach to business intelligence, Tableau allows you to quickly connect, visualize, and share data with a seamless experience from the PC to the iPad. We are a Tableau Alliance Partner and have certified staff on both the tool and the server technology that powers it.
